William Bryant
*William H. Bryant
*William H. Bryant enlisted 18 Nov 1861 in Perry County at the age of 23 as a private.
Capt Samuel Jennings Murphy enlisted William into Capt. Murphy's Company Alabama Mounted Volunteers for a period of 12 months.
William's horse was valued at $275 and his horse equipment at $30.
William appeared on the following muster rolls:
18 Nov to Dec 31 1861
30 Apr to 30 June 1863
31 Oct to 31 Dec 1863
He was born in 1838.
I can only find one William on the 1860 census that fits, William H Bryant in
Montgomery. It is possible that this is our fellow. Most of the men that were in company F were taken from Perry and Dallas counties. And in the Compiled Military Records, William lists his county as Perry but it is very possible that he was actually living in Montgomery in 1860.
If this is our William in Montgomery in 1860 then he was, an attorney at law, born in Virginia and he was living next door to R. B. Bryant and J. H. Bryant.
R. B. and J. H. were both males and both were also from Virginia.
