Lake Erie Eiland
Lake Erie Eiland joined the 3 Reg't Alabama Cavalry, Company F
as a Private on 10 June 1862 in Perry county Alabama at the age of 27. His brother Erasmus was already a surgeon in this same company.
He orginally enlisted with Capt W B Cathey for a period of 12 months. A lot of the men enlisted for 12 months but stayed on until the end of the war. Lake Erie probably also did this since he is listed on a muster roll dated 31 Oct 1864.
The men recieved pay for themselves and for their horses. Lake Erie was paid $24.40 for the use and risk of his horse.
Lake Erie Eiland was born 16 Nov 1834 in Perry county Alabama. His parents were Ovid Celdon Eiland and Henrietta Ford.
