*Milton Green Jones joined 3rd Alabama Cavalry, Company F on 16 Feb 1862 in Dallas County, Alabama.  He was enlisted by Capt. Samuel Jennings Murphy as a private for 12 months.

Milton appeared on the following Company Muster Rolls:
30 Apr to 30 June 1863
31 Oct to 31 Dec 1863
31 Oct 1864

Often the cavalry soldiers were detailed to assist someone for one reason or another. In Milton's case on 24 Dec 1862 he was detailed to Major Bridewater by order of General Wheeler.

Milton was paid for his services and for the use and risk of his horse.  On 15 February 1864 he was paid for his services from the 1st of July 1863 to the 30th of Dec 1863 for himself $72 and for his horse $73.60.  Notice that his horse got paid more than he did!

Milton was captured just before the war ended at DeRamus Plantation on 12 May 1865.  apparently he was captured
He was captured by Brig. General Lucas and was marched   from
Montgomery, Ala, toward Columbus, Miss.   The war ended and Milton was paroled at Vicksburg, Miss., June 5, 1865.

Milton's father was Lewis Jones who was born in 1798 in Virginia.  Lewis married  twice and Barry Wyatt, a gggrandnephew, was able to sort the children out for me.  These children were from the first marriage:

Mezelphia Ann Jones - married Charney Cale abt. 1848-49 in Autauga County (Corporal-3rd Battalion Alabama Reserves, Company C)
William T. Jones - married Susan Lavinia Dodson on 11 NOV 1852 in Autauga County (53rd Alabama Partisan Rangers, Company E)

Sarah Frances Jones - married Adam Walter Poole on 31 DEC 1857 in Autauga County (6th Alabama Infantry, Company G)

It is thought that Sarah Williams Jones died in Virginia between 1833 and 1836.

Lewis moved his family to Autauga County, Aabama and married Eliza Griffis there on August 30, 1837. Their children are:

John Marshall Jones - married Martha L. Dodson on 20 DEC 1866 in Autauga County

Samuel J. Jones - married Liza D. Hall abt. 1865 in Autauga County (6th Alabama Infantry, Company G)

David Malachi Jones - married Emily L. Day on 3 OCT 1866 in Autauga County (Livingston's 8th Alabama Cavalry, Company A)

Susan Catherine Jones - married Wade Henry Caver on 1 NOV 1866 in Autauga County (6th Alabama Infantry, Company G)
