          *Alonzo Devon Sims was born on 19 Sep 1837. He died on 27 Dec 1906 in Hale county, Alabama, USA.

In Greene county, Alabama on  on 28 Feb 1862 *Alonzo joined the Company F, 3rd Reg't Alabama Cavalry for 12 months. He was 25 years old when he enlisted.

 There were a large group of men that enlisted from their home county and then rode to Mobile to join in the company and I think that Alonzo was one of these men.

 He served in the military from 28 Feb 1862  to  Apr 1865. He was listed on the following Muster Rolls:
30 Apr - 18 Jun 1863
31 Oct - 19 Dec 1863
31 Oct 1864

On the 14 of July 1864 Prvt. A. D. Sims was sent by General Allen to the Com.
Brig. Hd. Qrs. for courier duty.



His name appears as signature to a Parole.  Parole sworn and subscribed to
at Eutaw, Alabama, 18 May 1865.

Alonzo Devon Sims and his brother,  Julius Howard Sims went into the same
cavalry company.

*Alonzo married Eliza Malinda Hamilton daughter of William S. Hamilton and Mahalie McClure? on 12 Jun 1860 in , Greene County, Alabama, USA. Eliza was born in 1845 in Alabama.

They had the following children:

        M     i.     William Gary Devon Sims was born on 14 Sep 1861. He died on 8 Dec 1936.

          M     ii.     Howard Sidney Sims was born on 22 Dec 1868.

          F     iii.     Ida Ione Sims was born in 1870.

          M     iv.     Charlie Robert Sims was born in 1876.

          M     v.     Mary Edna Sims was born in 1878.

          F     vi.     Martha Mahalie Sims was born in 1883.




In 1850 Alonzo was 13 years old and  living in Greene county with his parents and  family.

Garry Sims, born about 1810 in North Carolina, married Martha C. Sims about 1836 in Sumter County, Alabama, USA.

They had the following children:

         M     i.     *Alonzo Devon Sims was born on 19 Sep 1837. He died on 27 Dec 1906.

          F     ii.     Melissa Elizabeth Sims was born in 1837.

          M     iii.     Dan Fernando Sims was born in 1840 in ,,Alabama

          M     iv.     *Julius H. Sims was born in 1845 in ,,Alabama

          M     v.     Henry M. Sims was born in 1849 in , Greene County, Alabama

          M     vi.     Eddie Sims was born in 1852 in , Greene County, Alabama

   F       vii.     Amelia Sims was born in 1860 in , Greene County, Alabama
