*Julius Howard Sims joined Capt. Murphy's Company, Alabama Mounted Indpendant Volunteers later called Company F as a private and was discharged on surgeon's certificate. Julius must have been about 17 when he enlisted.    Alonzo Devon Sims and his brother Julius Howard Sims went into the same cavalry company.

The Compiled Military Service Records reveal nothing more other than the facts Julius was in this company and  he was discharged.

Julius was counted in a census in 1860 in Springfield, Greene county, Alabama.  In 1870 he was a physian and  living with his wife Sarah A. in Union, Greene county, Alabama. Sarah was born in 1848 in Alabama.

In 1850 he was five years old and  living in Greene county with his family.

Garry Sims, born about 1810 in North Carolina, married Martha C. Sims about 1836 in Sumter County, Alabama, USA.

They had the following children:

          M     i.     *Alonzo Devon Sims was born on 19 Sep 1837. He died on 27 Dec 1906.

          F     ii.     Melissa Elizabeth Sims was born in 1837.

          M     iii.     Dan Fernando Sims was born in 1840 in ,,Alabama

          M     iv.     *Julius H. Sims was born in 1845 in ,,Alabama

          M     v.     Henry M. Sims was born in 1849 in , Greene County, Alabama

          M     vi.     Eddie Sims was born in 1852 in , Greene County, Alabama

         F       vii.     Amelia Sims was born in 1860 in , Greene County, Alabama
