Dear Sir
In reply to your letter of Nov 8, says that Company F 3rd Ala Cavalry was organized on my father's plantation 10 miles west of Marion Perry County and was named the "Curry Dragoon's " in honor of my father (Jabez Curry). S. J. Murphy and my brother B. J. Curry belonged to Hagan's Cavalry stationed at Mobile, and got permission to raise a Company of Cavalry. My brother rally raised the Company and being a very young man, accepted the position of 1st Leut and gave S. J. Murphy the Captaincy
My father gave horses to all the men that were unable to buy them, and furnished rations for the men and forage for the horses during the time of the organization of the Company my father gave at least twenty horses to this Company, so I have been informed. This Company became part or Company in the 3rd Ala Cavalry.
Yours Respectfully
Thos Curry
