*Jacob Murff joined Capt. Murphy's Company, Alabama Mounted Volunteers later called 3rd Alabama Cavalry, Company F in Perry County on 18 Nov 1861 in Marion, Perry County, Alabama at the age of 33 years.  He was enlisted by Capt. Samuel Jennings Murphy as a 4th Sergent  for 12 months.  

*Jacob took his horse to war with him. His horse was valued at $225 and his horse equipment at $15.
*Jacob Murff was born in 1828 in South Carolina. He died in the battle of Murfreesboro on 4 Nov 1862 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.


He was on the Company Muster roll:
18 nov 1861 to 31 Dec 1861


For some reason, shortly before his death,  he was transfered to Englands company (E) 41  Alabama Infantry.


*Jacob married Sarah J. Walton on 12 Jul 1858 in Perry County, Alabama. Sarah was born in 1841  of Marion, Perry county, Alabama.
After Jacob's death Sarah filed for a settlement .



wife Sarah J Murff register of Claims of deceased Officers and Soldiers from Alabama which were filed
for settlement in the Offrice of the Confederate States Auditor for the War Depatment. Filed 28 Mar 1863 .  
Reported to Comptroller on 16 Sept 1864. Number of settlement certificate #18515. Amount found due
$70.46. Confed. Arch. Chap. 10, File No 26 page 85.

Jacob was named the same as his father, Jacob Murff born in 1784 in South Carolina.

Jacob, the father  married Nancy born in 1793 in South Carolina.

They had the following children that I know of:

M     i.     *Jacob Murff was born in 1828 in South Carolina. He died on 4 Nov 1862
      F     ii.     Joicy? Murff was born in 1831 in Alabama.
                              F     iii.     Rebecca Murff was born in 1836 in Alabama.
